Why Climb With Us
Real reasons, not a sales pitch — how our Arusha-based mountain team plans, prepares, and runs every Kilimanjaro expedition to give you the safest, most rewarding climb possible.
We're not the cheapest operator on Kilimanjaro. And for good reason.
What you're really paying for is safety, reliability, and a team that knows the mountain.
Below is exactly what that looks like in practice — how we prepare every expedition, train every guide, and care for every climber and crew member who sets foot on Kilimanjaro with us. Compare it against any operator you're considering.
GIP Adventure is based in Arusha, at the gateway to Kilimanjaro — not in an overseas booking office. Our guides, drivers, and office team live and work in the communities the mountain supports.
Booking locally means your money funds Tanzanian jobs directly, without layers of overseas agency markups sitting between you and the mountain.
Every GIP Adventure guide is licensed by Kilimanjaro National Park and trained in high-altitude first aid. Many have summited Kilimanjaro hundreds of times across every official route.
We hire for judgment and care under pressure as much as fitness — the skills that matter most when conditions on the mountain change quickly.
Every expedition carries a full medical kit — from basic remedies to altitude-specific medication — and our guides are trained to use it.
Guides check each climber's oxygen saturation and overall condition every morning and evening, catching early signs of altitude sickness before they become serious.
If a climber needs to descend, we coordinate immediate support — porters, guides, and where necessary, mountain rescue — so no one is left managing an emergency alone.
We don't push climbers onto the shortest, cheapest itinerary. We recommend the route and number of days that genuinely give you the best chance of a safe, successful summit — even when that means a longer climb than competitors quote.
Porters are the backbone of every Kilimanjaro climb. We pay fair wages, provide proper gear and warm sleeping tents, and serve the same quality meals to our crew that we serve our guests.
A well-treated team is a safer, more motivated team — and it shows on the mountain.
We keep group sizes manageable and assign enough guides per group so that no one is rushed and no one is left behind — whether you want to push the pace or take it pole pole.
Everything listed in your itinerary — park fees, crew wages, meals, camping equipment — is included in the quoted price. No surprise charges once you're on the mountain.
The only thing not included is personal tips for your crew.
Tents, sleeping mats, and cooking equipment are checked before every expedition departs — nothing worn out or improvised at altitude.
Our mountain cooks prepare fresh, hot meals daily, and we accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary needs at no extra charge.
Before you set foot on the trail, we walk you through your route day-by-day, check your personal gear, and answer every question — so nothing about your climb feels uncertain on day one.
From Marangu's huts to the remote Northern Circuit, our guides have led every official route across every season. That means honest, specific advice on which route actually fits your timeline, fitness, and goals — not a one-size-fits-all recommendation.
From airport pickup in Arusha to your departure, we stay involved — arranging transport, accommodation, and answering questions long after you've booked. Climbing with GIP Adventure means you're never navigating Tanzania alone.
We operate with respect for Kilimanjaro's ecosystem and the communities around it — from responsible waste practices on the mountain to supporting the porters and guides who make every expedition possible.
