6-Day Zanzibar Island Package

Karibu Zanzibar! On arrival at Zanzibar Airport you will be met by a member of the Gip-Adventure Tours & Safaris team and transferred to your beach resort on the island's east coast.

What we love about the resort is its beautiful setting and its reliable, outstanding staff, whose warmth and bubbling personalities make you feel at home from the first moment. Spend the rest of the day settling in, taking a first swim in the Indian Ocean and enjoying dinner by the sea.

After a relaxed breakfast at around 08:00 you set off for Jozani Forest, an enlightening visit and a particular delight for photographers. The forest is home to the endemic red colobus monkey, blue monkeys, both grey and red squirrels and a host of other wildlife.

Continue to an algae (seaweed) plantation, where local farmers explain how seaweed is grown and harvested along this coast. Lunch and drinks are taken either at the Rock Restaurant, perched on a rock in the middle of the ocean, or in the local village of Paje.

In the afternoon you return to your resort for dinner and the night.

After breakfast at around 08:00 you visit a spice plantation for a guided spice tour, discovering the herbs and spices that flavour traditional Zanzibari food and that have long been used as remedies and in local customs.

Continue to Stone Town, where you will learn, hear, feel and smell the difference. Your guide brings to life the places and stories of the slave trade, the Old Fort, the famous carved Zanzibar doors, Freddie Mercury's house, the House of Wonders and much more.

Later you sail in a traditional wooden boat to Changuu, better known as Prison Island, where you can enjoy a cold beer within the walls of the old prison and feed the giant tortoises. Lunch is served with fresh fruit and a local drink, before you return to your resort for dinner and the night.

After breakfast at around 08:00 you sail out to Mnemba Island. Along the way there is a good chance of glimpsing dolphins, and those who wish to slip into the water and swim with them are warmly encouraged; it is safe and great fun.

There is ample time for snorkelling in the clear water over white sandbanks and for bathing in the warm shallows. Lunch is a beach feast of fresh seafood grilled right in front of you.

In the afternoon you return to your resort for dinner and the night.

After breakfast at around 08:00 you head north to the rock aquarium, a golden opportunity to get close to and swim with the turtles.

Then walk along the beach to a fishing village to watch traditional dhows being built by hand and to see something of daily life in the community.

As the day draws to a close you set sail into the sunset off Nungwi, one of the most beautiful and breathtaking beaches on the island, with refreshments and live music on board. Afterwards you return to your resort for dinner and the night.

Enjoy a final breakfast at the resort at around 08:00 and a last walk along the beach.

At the agreed time you will be transferred to Zanzibar Airport to connect with your international flight home, taking with you the colours, flavours and sounds of the Spice Island.
