Great Migration Safaris

Follow more than a million wildebeest and zebras across the Serengeti and Masai Mara, with camps placed where the herds are for your dates.

Every year, more than 1.5 million wildebeest, with hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, move in a great circle through the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystem in search of fresh grass and water. Lions, cheetahs, hyenas and crocodiles follow. It is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth.

Our migration safaris place you in camps close to where the herds are expected for your travel dates, and our guides follow their movements every day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still wondering about something? Our team in Arusha answers every message personally.

When is the best time to see the Great Migration?

It depends on what you want to see: calving in late January and February, or river crossings from July to October. The herds are in the Serengeti ecosystem all year.

Are river crossings guaranteed?

No. The herds may gather at the river for hours or days before crossing. Spending three or more nights in the northern Serengeti gives you the best chance.

Should I fly or drive to the migration?

Driving gives you the full northern circuit on the way. Flying saves time and is ideal for the far north of the Serengeti in the crossing season.
