Tour overview
Volcanoes, flamingos and the Rift Valley in one unforgettable flight.
This is one of the most dramatic scenic flights in East Africa. From Arusha the helicopter carries you past Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru to Ol Doinyo Lengai, the Maasai 'Mountain of God', and on to the soda flats of Lake Natron, where flamingos gather in their thousands.
The journey continues past the famous Ngorongoro Crater before dropping down a steep escarpment to skim over the shimmering waters of Lake Eyasi. Top off the adventure with a refreshing dip at a secluded waterfall or a beautiful natural spring.
The flight lasts a minimum of four hours and can run longer depending on the places visited and your interests; it can also be spread over several days with a minimum of three hours' flying a day. It is a special, adventurous experience and ideal for photographers. Our helicopters do not fly over or land in the national parks, but they fly close enough to Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru for the summits to be seen from the air.
We operate the Eurocopter AS350, the best helicopter of its class on the market. Our flights are led by expert pilots with decades of experience between them, specialists in helicopter safaris throughout sub-Saharan Africa who hold both FAA and KCAA commercial pilots' licences and are qualified flight instructors. A minimum of four guests applies to helicopter safaris in Tanzania, and each aircraft carries up to four adults or two adults and three children, with luggage limited to 15 kg per person in soft bags only.

Day01Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Ol Doinyo Lengai, Lake Natron and Lake Eyasi by helicopter
You lift off from Arusha after a safety briefing from your pilot. The first part of the flight brings Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro into view, flown close enough for their summits to be seen while staying outside the national parks.
Heading north-west into the Great Rift Valley, you circle the smoking cone of Ol Doinyo Lengai, the Maasai 'Mountain of God', before sweeping low over Lake Natron, where vast flocks of flamingos colour the soda flats pink.
The return journey passes the famous Ngorongoro Crater before dropping down a steep escarpment to skim the shimmering waters of Lake Eyasi. Round off the day with a refreshing dip at a secluded waterfall or natural spring, with your lunch box, water and soft drinks, before flying back to Arusha.
