Tour overview
Follow the great grey giants from the baobabs of Tarangire to the floor of Ngorongoro.
This six-day safari is built around Africa's great grey giants. It begins with a warm welcome at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport and an unhurried first evening in Arusha, then heads straight for Tarangire, famous for its large parades of African savanna elephants, the giant baobabs that dot its landscape and the Tarangire River, the lifeline for almost all of the park's wildlife.
From there the journey crosses into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for an afternoon with the Maasai, and on to the Serengeti, a land of vast plains that seem to run on forever, where great herds of wildebeest and zebra move across the ecosystem in search of fresh, nutritious grazing. Around the Retina hippo pool, elephants, zebras and, with luck, a black rhino complete the picture.
The adventure closes with a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, home to the Big Five living in their natural habitat beneath forested volcanic highlands, and a stop at the Meserani snake park on the way back to Arusha. From there you transfer to the airport for your flight home, or extend your trip to the beautiful islands of Zanzibar.

Day01Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Arusha
Your driver-guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport, welcomes you warmly to Tanzania and drives you by road to your hotel in Arusha.
After time to rest and refresh, one of our knowledgeable guides briefs you on the safari ahead, so you go to bed with a clear picture of the adventure to come. Stroll through the grounds and, on a clear day, catch the views of Mount Meru before dinner.

Day02Tarangire National Park
After a warm breakfast at your hotel in Arusha, you set off at around 08:00 for Tarangire National Park, a magnificent park known for its rare tree-climbing pythons and its outstanding game viewing.
This is elephant country. In the dry months, great numbers of animals gather along the Tarangire River, and the park's large elephant herds move between the ancient baobabs to drink and bathe. Spend the day exploring with your guide before continuing to your lodge for dinner and the night.

Day03Maasai village and Serengeti National Park
After breakfast at around 08:00, your driver-guide collects you for the journey to the Serengeti. On the way through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area you stop at a Maasai village for a joyful cultural encounter: watch the traditional dances, mingle with your hosts and join in if you are brave enough.
Continue into Serengeti National Park, game driving en route as the endless plains open up around you, and arrive at your camp for a freshly prepared dinner and a memorable first night in the wilderness.

Day04Serengeti game drive and transfer to Ngorongoro
Rise early for breakfast and an early-morning game drive in the Serengeti, a park of dramas and wonders that never seem to end. Watch the huge pods of hippos at the Retina hippo pool, large herds of elephants and big dazzles of zebras, and, if fortune smiles, perhaps a black rhino.
After a picnic lunch in the park, drive on to your camp in the Ngorongoro area for a memorable dinner and overnight stay.

Day05Ngorongoro Crater and return to Arusha via the snake park
After breakfast at around 08:00, your guide drives you down to the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a picture-perfect game drive. This is one of the best places in Tanzania to see black rhinos in the wild, along with large buffalo herds, flocks of pink flamingos, big lion prides and clans of spotted hyenas, among many other grazers and predators.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater. In the late afternoon you climb out and head back towards Arusha, stopping at the Meserani snake park on the way, before dinner and your final night at your hotel.
