Day01Flight to Serengeti National Park (Central)
Whether you fly in from Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar, your driver guide meets you at Seronera airstrip in the central Serengeti with a warm welcome.
From the airstrip you set off straight away on a game drive through the heart of the park, known for its beauty, sunlit savannahs and rich wildlife: lions, cheetahs, leopards and spotted hyenas, with large herds of buffalo, wildebeest, topi, impala and zebra. With luck you may meet a pack of African wild dogs, or the shy suni and dik-dik.
After a picnic lunch and a short afternoon drive you arrive at your camp for your first dinner and a night in the African bush.

Day02Full day in Serengeti National Park
After breakfast at around 08:00 you venture deep into the Serengeti for a full day of game drives. The plains are a green carpet after the rains and a golden-brown one in the dry season, and the park's finest viewing spots are spread across them.
Depending on the season, huge herds of wildebeest and zebra may be on the move. At the right time of year they reach the banks of the 395-kilometre Mara River, which rises in central Kenya and flows into Lake Victoria, and some dare to plunge in while giant Nile crocodiles wait in the murky water. The weak fall to the predators, and the scavengers are never far behind.
After a picnic lunch and an afternoon drive you return to your camp for dinner and the night.

Day03Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, on to Karatu
After breakfast you enjoy an early game drive in the central Serengeti, then head for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, game-viewing on the way. You visit a Maasai boma to experience the vibrant traditions and warm hospitality of the Maasai, learn about their way of life, join in their dances and try on their shuka cloths.
Afterwards you visit the Shifting Sands, a dune of black, magnetic volcanic ash around 9 metres high and 100 metres long that creeps 17–20 metres westwards across the Ngorongoro Conservation Area each year. Then continue to Olduvai Gorge and its museum, one of the world's most important archaeological sites, where evidence of early humans and the creatures that lived alongside them has been uncovered.
After a picnic lunch and a short game drive you continue to your lodge in the small town of Karatu for dinner and the night.

Day04Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast you drive up to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 610 metres into the crater, a collapsed volcano whose permanent water supply supports a remarkable variety of wildlife.
Look out for great dark, wrinkled elephants, dark-maned lions in their prime, huge herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, warthog and gazelle, and the black rhino that roam freely here. Birdlife ranges from the ostrich, the world's largest bird, to the kori bustard, the largest bird that can fly. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the crater walls over a picnic lunch.
After a final short game drive you return to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and the night.

Day05Tarangire National Park, flight to Arusha and departure from Kilimanjaro Airport
After breakfast you drive to Tarangire National Park, which covers 2,850 square kilometres some 120 kilometres south-west of Arusha. It is famous for superb game viewing in the dry season, when animals gather along the Tarangire River, their main source of water.
Watch as they come to drink, wallow in the mud and bathe to cool off from the scorching sun, and enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. After a short afternoon game drive you head to the Tarangire airstrip for your flight to Arusha Airport, or drive back to Arusha if you prefer. Your guide then transfers you to Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your international flight home (transfer timing depends on your flight schedule). The Gip Adventure team wishes you a safe journey and a lifetime of memories.
