One of Africa's great natural wonders, reached by air in a single overnight trip.
This short fly-in safari is ideal for those with limited time who still want to experience one of Africa's natural wonders. A light-aircraft flight from Arusha to Lake Manyara replaces the drive, rewarding you with outstanding views over the Rift Valley along the way.
From the airstrip it is a short drive to your lodge in Karatu, and in the afternoon you descend 610 metres to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, home of the Big Five and one of the best places in Africa to see black rhino. Large herds of wildebeest, buffalo and zebra graze alongside lions, spotted hyenas, jackals and bat-eared foxes.
The next morning you fly back to Arusha from Lake Manyara and continue to your city hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport. Flights can also be arranged from Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar.

You fly from Arusha to the Lake Manyara airstrip and drive up to Karatu and the Ngorongoro Crater. The next morning you fly back from Lake Manyara to Arusha and transfer to your hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Day01Flight to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater game drive
After breakfast at around 08:00 your guide transfers you to Arusha Airport for your scheduled flight to the Lake Manyara airstrip. Your safari driver guide meets you on landing and drives you to your lodge in Karatu for lunch.
In the afternoon you descend 610 metres to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive among large herds of wildebeest and buffalo, zebras, warthogs and gazelles, dark-maned lions in their prime and heavy, wrinkled elephants. Spotted hyenas, leopards, bat-eared foxes and jackals also live here, and this home of the Big Five offers excellent chances of seeing black rhino.
After a final short game drive you return to your lodge in Karatu for a memorable dinner and the night.

Day02Flight from Lake Manyara to Arusha and onward transfer
After breakfast your driver guide transfers you to the Lake Manyara airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Arusha Airport, with a final view over the Rift Valley from the air.
On arrival your guide meets you again and transfers you to your hotel in Arusha or to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey. The Gip Adventure team wishes you a safe journey and lasting memories.
