Tour overview

Two vast, remote parks where the wild is still wild.

Nyerere and Ruaha are among the finest destinations on Tanzania's southern circuit, offering every experience you might find elsewhere in the country – without the crowds. Both parks are vast and remote; their size supports an enormous diversity of plants and animals, and because they are so little visited they have kept their natural character. The wildlife is truly wild and the wilderness pristine.

You spend four nights in Nyerere National Park, the former Selous, with full-day game drives, boating and walking safaris, a bonfire bush dinner and an included hot-air balloon safari. Look for large pods of hippos, crocodiles in the rivers, herds of zebra and troops of chattering primates.

Three nights in Ruaha follow, Tanzania's second-largest park, home to great herds of elephant, a significant share of Africa's lions, greater kudu and the endangered wild dog. Whether you are a wildlife enthusiast, a seasoned safari-goer or a traveller in search of something new, this is the journey for you – and your camera.
