Tour overview
The great parks of northern Tanzania, rounded off with a day among the people who live beside them.
Immerse yourself fully in the wild. Tanzania is vast, and this seven-day journey brings together the very best of its northern circuit. It begins with a meet-and-greet at Kilimanjaro International Airport and a calm first night in Arusha, before heading into Tarangire National Park, with its large parades of elephants, its upside-down baobab trees, rare packs of African wild dogs and elusive lesser kudu hiding in the bush.
Then it is on to the Serengeti, a land of greatness and endless space, known for its kopjes and large lion prides, diverse landscapes and rich birdlife. Two nights in the park give you a full day to search for the Big Five and the great herds of the migration.
On the way back you cross the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest intact and unflooded volcanic caldera, to see its wildlife up close, before a day of culture in Mto wa Mbu, mingling with local people and learning about their way of life. The tour ends with a transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport, or you can extend your stay on the dazzling white-sand beaches of Zanzibar.

Day01Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Arusha
Your driver-guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport, welcomes you warmly to Tanzania and drives you by road to your hotel in Arusha.
After a chance to relax, our knowledgeable guides brief you on the safari ahead. Stroll through the grounds and, on a clear day, take in the views of Mount Meru before dinner and your first night in Tanzania.

Day02Tarangire National Park
After a hearty breakfast, your driver-guide picks you up at around 08:00 for the drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for rare African wild dogs, the elusive lesser kudu and huge parades of elephants. The game viewing is superb, especially in the dry months when thirsty animals gather along the river, and the green plains are at their most beautiful in the early morning and late afternoon.
There is plenty to see on your game drive. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, then continue to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and the night.

Day03Ngorongoro rim and Serengeti National Park
After breakfast at around 08:00, you drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, pausing at Heroes Point on the crater rim for your first glimpse down into the caldera.
Continue into the Serengeti, game driving all the way to your camp. Take in the vastness of the park, its woodlands and kopjes and the abundance of wildlife, before dinner and the night at your camp.

Day04Full day in the Serengeti
After breakfast at around 08:00, you head into the heart of the park for a full day's game drive, seeking out as many of its hidden gems as possible. The Serengeti is a haven for the Big Five and home to the millions of wildebeest that make up the great migration, plodding across the ecosystem and grazing their way through the grasslands.
Watch wild animals behaving naturally in their own habitat, with a picnic lunch out on the plains, before returning to your camp for dinner and the night.

Day05Ngorongoro Crater and drive to Karatu
After breakfast at around 08:00, you leave the Serengeti with game drives on the way, taking in everything the park has to offer as you head for another of the world's famous wildlife sanctuaries, the Ngorongoro Crater.
Explore the 260-square-kilometre crater floor, visiting Lake Magadi, a highly saline lake where pink flamingos, waders and waterfowl feed in the shallows, while raptors circle above the crater walls in search of a fresh kill. After a picnic lunch, drive to your lodge in Karatu for a hearty dinner and the night.

After lunch at a local spot, you continue to Arusha, stopping at the Meserani snake park on the way, and arrive at your hotel in time for a shower, dinner and the night.
